The Nourishment of Clay:
the Felt Sense of Contact and Connection
This workshop will guide you through an exploration of clay and the felt sense (Peter Levin). This process aims to develop the felt sense of touch through the hands and to connect to deeper layers of you and your body. You will be led through a non-verbal mindful process, that will enable you to connect with the earthen, forgiving and yielding clay. You will be supported to find what touch, text, pressure, movement or holding feels nourishing and right for you at any given moment to slowly allow a 3D object to emerge. Reflection of the process will follow to integrate your experience.

Sarah Sze: Emotional Time
For this months Artist In Focus, we would like to show you a short film about Sarah Sze's Timelapse exhibition. It offers a glimpse into the profound connection between art, architecture, and the human experience, inviting you to reflect on the beauty and complexity of our world. It's a celebration of creativity, imagination, and the transformative power of art.
Step into the magnificent Guggenheim Museum in the heart of New York City and be inspired by the captivating exhibition, Timelapse, curated by Sarah Sze. Within the museum's iconic spiralling architecture, Sze's thought-provoking artworks create a mesmerising visual experience that highlights the profound connection between art and architecture.
In Sze's remarkable installation, River of Images (2023), projected videos gracefully glide along the museum walls, creating a captivating dance of images. This immersive artwork draws attention to the unique design of the Guggenheim, allowing visitors to explore the immense void at the centre and appreciate the interplay of light and shadows that define the space. As Sze beautifully expresses, "This museum is an embodiment of radical architecture—it's the air, the light, and the tilt. It creates an entirely new inner world once you step inside."
Through her sculptures and paintings, Sze invites us to reconsider our perception of space and engage with the museum's radical design. Works like Slice (2023), constructed from everyday objects and photographs, evoke a delicate balance between strength and fragility, encouraging viewers to navigate with caution and introspection. Meanwhile, paintings like Times Zero (2023) envelop visitors, immersing them in an interior landscape that blends collage and painting techniques. These captivating artworks explore the fusion of external images and our internal memories, capturing the essence of our emotional experiences and the passage of time.
Sit back, relax, and experience the profound connection between art, architecture, and the boundless possibilities they offer for inspiration and self-reflection.
